Molecules are getting more and more complex. Finding the optimal route to a synthetic molecule involves breaking down the target molecule into smaller intermediaries, ultimately reaching commercially available starting molecules. Conventionally, this is the work of a lot of scientists bringing their brainpower together to find the best pathways. Getting something right by design before the work begins can save money, resources and time. Our new Route Scouting Service offering combines our process R&D expertise and supply chain databases with AI-enabled computer-aided synthesis planning technology (CSPT). Simon Wagschal, Associate Director of Advanced Chemistry Technologies at Lonza, explains why this approach is so effective in shortening the pathways to a target molecule. In our Q1 Qualitative Update, we reported performance in line with expectations for Full-Year 2024. A softer performance in the first quarter is expected to normalize across H1 2024.   “We made good progress in Q1 2024 with the strategic acquisition of the large-scale biologics site in Vacaville and the appointment of Lonza’s new CEO, Wolfgang Wienand," said Albert Baehny, CEO ad interim. Jean-Marc has a strong international leadership track record and extensive operational and strategic management experience in the consumer, pharma and nutrition industries.
